ABOUT
Submitted for GRAMMY® consideration in the category Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance, the Spina & Benignetti Piano Duo stands today as one of the most dynamic and refined ensembles on the international scene.
Their new album, Transcriptions for Piano Four Hands (Piano Classics, November 2024), already awarded the Gold Medal at the Global Music Awards, has been officially recognised by the Recording Academy to compete for the world’s most prestigious music prize. The specialised press has praised their interpretation for its finesse, cohesion, and expressive power: “the works are wholly reborn when performed by these terrific pianists” (Textura Magazine, 2024).

Since meeting in 2013, Eleonora Spina and Michele Benignetti have forged a distinctive artistic identity that combines virtuosity, elegance, and deep artistic affinity.
Winners of numerous international competitions – Manhattan International Music Competition (New York), London Piano Masters (Royal College of Music, London), Pietro Argento Competition (Italy), Concours Musical de France, International Artists Competition (Vienna) – they have built a career that has taken them to some of the world’s most prestigious venues: Salle Cortot and Auditorium de l’Opéra Bastille in Paris, Grosser Konzertsaal in Munich, Izumi Hall in Osaka, Guangzhou Opera House and Tianjin Grand Theater in China, Baxter Concert Hall in Cape Town, Teatro Nacional de San Salvador, Auditoiurm Galindo Blas in Mexico City, and Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice, among many others.
Their performances are regularly broadcast by leading radio stations: France Musique (Génération Jeunes Interprètes, Le Live), Rai Radio3, SBS Australia, Radio Classica, Vatican Radio, and Art Sound FM (Australia). Everywhere, their pianistic synergy and communicative energy captivate both audiences and critics.
Their discography reflects a rigorous and eclectic artistic journey. After their complete recording of Brahms’s works for two pianos (Brilliant Classics, 2015), unanimously acclaimed by the press, they released Lifetime (Sheva Collection, 2017), a triple Global Music Awards winner. This was followed by Visions (Sheva Collection, 2021), featuring the world premiere of a transcription of César Franck, and Schubert’s Music for Piano Four Hands (Ulysses Arts, 2022), which confirmed their place among the finest duos of their generation: “Their playing offers performances here that rank up there with the luminaries” (Fanfare Magazine).

Alongside their concert career, Eleonora and Michele are passionate pedagogues. Professors at the Cité de la Musique et de la Danse in Soissons (France), they are regularly invited to give masterclasses in many countries, including France, China, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
Since 2017, the Spina-Benignetti Piano Duo has been an Official Yamaha Artist, a distinction that supports and enhances their international artistic profile.
